Rev. Prof. John Kobia Ataya is currently the Vice Chancellor of Kenya Methodist University
Served as Registrar, Deputy Vice Chancellor, Chairman University Council and Chancellor.
Joined the Bible Society of Kenya as a lead Bible Translator which culminated in the translation of the new Kîmîîrû Bible in 2011.
Currently interested and assisting in the process of translating Tiania language Bible.
He studied at St. Paul’s University where he attained a Bachelor of Divinity and Birmingham University in UK where he graduated with a Master of Arts in Translation Studies and PhD in New Testament, specializing in Translation.
He has interest in language development especially Kîmîîrû language, orthography, and Linguistics.
He is the pioneer of ODEL programs, Policy, and training at Kenya Methodist University.
He has authored books and peer reviewed papers in Translation, Relogious and Biblical studies.
